How do we deal responsibly with our environmental resources? This is one of the great questions of our time.

Zumtobel works on a daily basis with sustainability issues and constantly aims to make a tangible contribution with energy-efficient lighting solutions and environmentally-friendly projects.

The sustainable energy concept of the City Green Court office building was realised with an efficient LED lighting solution and daylight-linked control system from Zumtobel. The World Green Building Council has recently recognised this Prague project with a prestigious "Leadership Award" for Green Building.

And now Zumtobel has raised the bar for sustainability at one of its own production sites. Following an investment of 500,000 Euros, the Usingen plant in Germany is benefitting from a comprehensive energy plan that will significantly reduce its environmental footprint.

A new, highly efficient communal power plant produces both electricity and heating, using natural gas with an overall efficiency rate of 91 percent.

The site is on track to achieve annual energy savings of 25 percent and to cut CO2 emissions by 450 tons in the 8,000 m² production area, where innovative products like the SFERA free-standing luminaire with SWARMCONTROL are manufactured.

Now Usingen has been highlighted by the European Union and named as a partner of the European Green Building program, showing just how Zumtobel lives by its green principles and thereby sets the example for a better future!
