The past and the future are united to create something totally new in the centre of Milan: The charm of a historic palace and the vision of an innovative futuristic showroom are the competing elements brought together to shape the SO Milano concept store. Designed by architects from the Baciocchi Associati studio, this exclusive 300-square-metre shop presents a variety of fashion brands – highlighted by a lighting solution from Zumtobel.
The challenge for Zumtobel was to design a lighting approach that takes into account not only the constant change of the fashion brands in the store, but also the extraordinary circumstances of the location itself. Pieces of furniture and decorations such as bronze sculptures and appealingly futuristic-looking silver balls double up as exhibition spaces for clothing and accessories. In addition, engraved metal balls on the facade of the boutique illuminate the palace at night.
The SUPERSYSTEM II lighting system suits this complex situation perfectly. The multi-functional LED lighting tool guarantees excellent light quality and impresses with a delicate, miniaturised design and flexible technology that offers key benefits in this kind of retail lighting application. The LED luminaires complement the general lighting, providing homogeneous illumination in the room and accent lighting for the specific sales areas. The result is a store that mixes original shapes with extraordinary dynamic movement – all supported by a flexible lighting solution.
