The airplane repair and service centre JOB AIR Technic is one of the biggest single span maintenance hangars for aircrafts in Central Europe. Due to a modernisation of the building a new lighting solution was required. As an expert in industrial lighting, Zumtobel provided 231 CRAFT luminaires for this project.

JOB AIR Technic, founded in 1993 in Mošnov Czechia , is an approved maintenance organisation for aircrafts. The over 20 meter high hangar in Mošnov offers enough space for a number of aircrafts like the Airbus A320 family. The aircraft family can accommodate up to 236 passengers and has a length and a wing span of more than 31 meters. Because of this enormous dimensions you feel very small when you enter the hangar and see all the big aircrafts from below.

Due to modernisation efforts a new lighting solution for the hangar was required. The challenge was to achieve a higher illumination level while using an efficient lighting system that saves costs on energy consumption and maintenance. Zumtobel’s high-bay LED luminaire CRAFT coupled with the lighting management system LITECOM met all requirements perfectly. It combines high resilience, zero maintenance and a long service life with low electricity requirements.

Because of the extremely high ceilings of 21,5 meters, CRAFT luminaires with narrow beam optics were chosen. As a distinctly narrow beam solution, it uses the spacing between one LED luminaire and the next to full effect. In this way, it was possible to reduce the total number of luminaires used and, consequently, also the total energy consumption.
With the high-bay LED luminaire CRAFT, Zumtobel was able to offer a maintenance-free operation, which provides significant energy cost savings in this type of industry application, based on its 50.000 hours lifetime and the special shape of the housing that makes for a dust-free surface.
