Lecture with Marte.Marte

Meeting with architect Stefan Marte, Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels | BE

The Austrian office Marte.Marte was founded by the brothers Bernhard and Stefan Marte in 1993. The formal language of their monolithic architecture consists of simple geometric figures. Those figures are always derived from the internal spatial composition of the building.

The majority of their projects are located in the Vorarlberg region where they stand out from the others by the use of industrial materials, usually raw concrete, which accentuate the spatial experience of the building.

The office works on various private assignments but also builds larger projects, such as the Diocesan Museum in Fresach, the chapel in Batschuns and various bridges in the region of Vorarlberg, the most western region of Austria. In 2016 they exhibited "appearing sculptural", a series of short films, at the Venice Architecture Biennial.

A + and BOZAR, Centre for Fine Arts in Belgium, together wit Zumtobel, invite them to talk about their work on February 26th.
